that's what i'm worried about, it seems sometimes the output being produced is 'starting' (relatively) to be strongly influenced again by popular market forces.
its not only the current ones that i like that i'm wondering about but that there appears (relative term, i can't see forever) to be no one coming out to replace them.
shall we drive this thread in the direction of music then?
Bubblegum Crisis, the original soundtrack of the original saga. The complete pack is CDs and includes songs not used in the original anime. its for me one of the best sources of rock from that time; i'm not aware if there was an english version available, because despite what i've seen of some reviews, the original english BGM was good for me too - that's what i started with - the original VHS; no swapping between audio options then, lol.
i suppose nobody is going back to that style because the mood or feelings going around the world to produce it does not exist anymore does it?
however, I know there was a complete pack for Gundam Destiny, can't recall if there was a SEED pack.
off the top of my head. maybe off my mind as well... lol |

Need to look outside the box labeled 'mainstream'. Outside is where all the innovation and revival of good old styles is. The mainstream is a volatile beast always doing what is popular and marketable rather than what is good. I have never been able to condone such an attitude.

It has less to do with mood and feelings than what the industry believes is a popular trend/s and decides to back. So long as the majority is willing to accept whatever they dish out, they're happy with that - it makes selling their brand of mediocrity so much easier. So an artist seeking fame via the mainstream route is not going to record in that style because the market forces say it is a bad idea. If you have a taste for 80s style music the mainstream industry could care less about supporting that.
The reason many artists deliberately choose to work under the radar is because of the freedom of expression and integrity it affords (at the expense of becoming rich and famous). If they actually care about their music and put that first and foremost, above things like trendiness and image, it's a risk they're willing to take. |

so be it. trouble seems to be even breaking even these days.
i think this thread appears to have ran out of rocket fuel. its been remarkably spam free.
* bows * thank you.
any other notable subjects relevant to the topic before we consider this thread honorably retired?
and please i would appreciate it if it did not end in a holocaust of spam. |

Actually much of an artist's income comes from live shows since the kids aren't into buying the records these days. |

I Youtube a lot of music. Because of the nature of music I tend to focus more money on collecting dvds/games than CDs. I feel I get less out of the latter value wise.
If I collected records it would probably be a different matter. The tactile properties and fragility differentiate it as a collectors item from the plain silver disc which can carry downloaded mp3s anyway. You could argue DVDs are no different but as a means of media they provide more value to me. |
